    Why It Matters

    Adult stem cell pools decline in function with age through DNA damage, epigenetic drift, mitochondrial dysfunction and a shifting niche environment rather than simple depletion. Chronic inflammation and hyperglycaemia impair niche signalling, while exercise stimulates muscle satellite cell and haematopoietic activity. Products marketed as stem cell boosters, including stem cell nutrition powders and unregulated clinics, are not supported by outcome evidence and in the case of unproven injections carry genuine harm. Treat this as a mechanism worth protecting through fundamentals, not a purchasable service.

    1) Exercise regularly, including resistance training, which is the best-established stimulus for satellite cell activity and tissue regeneration. 2) Sleep sufficiently, since regeneration and progenitor mobilisation are sleep-dependent. 3) Keep glycaemia and insulin in a healthy range, as hyperglycaemia impairs stem cell niche function. 4) Avoid smoking, which damages haematopoietic and endothelial progenitors. 5) Keep inflammation low through diet, body composition and treating chronic infections. 6) Maintain adequate protein for tissue repair. 7) Practise intermittent fasting or time-restricted eating, which shows regenerative signals in animal models with limited human confirmation. 8) Avoid unregulated stem cell clinics and injections marketed for ageing — the harm record is real and the evidence is not.
