- Evidence is insufficient. Fisetin inhibits the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway in cell culture and induces autophagy in cancer cell lines and animal models, which is the basis for the mTOR claim. That is a mechanistic laboratory observation, not a demonstrated human effect: mTOR activity has never been measured in a human fisetin trial, and there is no established way to measure it clinically. mTOR is also not simply something to suppress - it drives muscle protein synthesis and immune function, so blunting it indiscriminately carries real trade-offs, which is why rapamycin trials are conducted with careful intermittent dosing under supervision.
