    How It Works

    Inhibits mitochondrial complex I, raising the AMP:ATP ratio and activating AMPK, which suppresses mTORC1 signaling and promotes autophagy and fatty acid oxidation.

    What the studies say

    The AMPK-mTOR mechanism is well characterized in cell and animal models. Human evidence is robust for downstream metabolic outcomes (glucose, lipids) but there are no human trials measuring mTOR inhibition or longevity endpoints directly.

    No studies are yet linked to both Berberine and mTOR Regulation.

    Safety

    Caveats

    GI upset initially; potent CYP3A4/2D6 inhibitor — check all medications; avoid in pregnancy.

    Less likely to help if

    Anyone training for hypertrophy should avoid dosing near workouts — blunting mTOR in muscle works against the goal.
