- Evidence is insufficient for the broad claim. One randomised placebo-controlled trial - Olsson and colleagues, 60 adults with stress-related fatigue - found 576 mg/day reduced the cortisol awakening response over 28 days alongside improved fatigue and concentration, and some acute-stress studies report attenuated cortisol responses. That is the extent of it. No trial has shown normalisation of a dysregulated HPA axis, change in 24-hour cortisol output, effects on ACTH, DHEA or catecholamines, or correction of any diagnosed endocrine abnormality. Regulation implies restoring a system to normal, which has not been demonstrated.
