The 'cellular energy' claim rests on cordycepin's structural similarity to adenosine and on rodent ATP studies — human trials at 1-3 g/day have not shown a measurable increase in energy production or a reliable reduction in fatigue.,Small trials in older adults reported improved exercise tolerance, but they are underpowered and often industry-linked.,Fatigue deserves a diagnosis before a supplement: check iron and ferritin, thyroid function, sleep apnoea risk, depression screening, and medication side effects.,If you trial it, 1-3 g/day of a third-party-tested fruiting body extract in the morning is the studied range; give it 4-8 weeks and stop if nothing changes.,Do not expect a stimulant effect — cordyceps is not caffeine and does not act acutely.

Effect of Cs-4 (Cordyceps sinensis) on exercise performance in healthy older subjects: a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial

In 20 healthy adults aged 50-75, Cs-4 (Cordyceps sinensis mycelium) 333 mg three times daily for 12 weeks raised the metabolic and ventilatory thresholds relative to placebo, while peak VO2 and peak workload did not differ significantly between groups.

Caveats
Persistent fatigue with weight loss, fever, breathlessness or night sweats needs medical assessment. Product identity and heavy metal contamination are documented concerns. Avoid in autoimmune disease and with immunosuppressants. Possible mild antiplatelet effect — caution with anticoagulants. Not studied in pregnancy or breastfeeding.
