Claims for altitude adaptation trace back to Tibetan traditional use and to rodent hypoxia studies; human trials at 1-3 g/day have not demonstrated improved acclimatisation, oxygen saturation or reduced acute mountain sickness.,Acute mountain sickness is a medical risk, not a performance inconvenience.     What the studies say

    The available randomized work involves fewer than 100 participants in mostly sea-level exercise studies, with inconsistent VO2max findings. No trial demonstrates reduced Lake Louise scores or improved SpO2 during real ascent. Traditional Tibetan and Nepali use is suggestive but not evidence of efficacy.

    No studies are yet linked to both Cordyceps and Altitude Adaptation.

    Caveats

    Do not substitute cordyceps for graded ascent or for medical management of altitude illness — HAPE and HACE kill. Many products are mislabelled: most "cordyceps sinensis" on the market is CS-4 mycelium grown on grain, not the wild fungus. Heavy metal contamination has been reported in poorly sourced products. Avoid in autoimmune disease and with immunosuppressants due to immunostimulant potential. Not studied in pregnancy or breastfeeding.
