    The evidence here is insufficient. Small trials of 10-15 g/day of collagen peptides in pressure ulcers and surgical wounds report faster closure, but they are few, small, often industry-funded, and usually give collagen inside a mixed nutrition supplement containing protein, arginine, zinc and vitamin C — so the collagen contribution cannot be isolated.,The nutrients with real wound-healing evidence are total protein intake (1.2-1.5 g/kg/day), zinc if deficient, and vitamin C if deficient. Address those first.,Topical collagen dressings are a separate, better-evidenced product and are not the same as swallowing collagen.,Any non-healing or infected wound needs clinical assessment, not a supplement.,If you still want to try oral collagen, 10-15 g/day is the studied range, but treat it as unproven adjunct only.

    Caveats

    Do not delay medical care for a non-healing, infected or diabetic foot wound. Collagen is an incomplete protein and cannot meet the protein demand of healing on its own. Fish allergy risk with marine sources. Not studied in pregnancy.

    Less likely to help if

    People with adequate protein, zinc and vitamin C status; anyone whose delayed healing is caused by infection, poor perfusion, uncontrolled diabetes, smoking or corticosteroids.
