    Evidence is insufficient. The most cited human data come from a randomised trial by Kiecolt-Glaser and colleagues in overweight middle-aged adults, in which four months of 1,250 or 2,500 mg/day EPA+DHA did not significantly change telomere length overall, though a lower omega-6 to omega-3 ratio correlated with longer telomeres in secondary analysis and oxidative stress markers fell. Other trials and observational analyses are inconsistent. The mechanistic case - that reduced inflammation and oxidative stress slow telomere attrition - is plausible but unproven, and leukocyte telomere length is a noisy measure with poor within-person reproducibility, heavily influenced by which cell populations are sampled.
