    Evidence

    What the studies say

    A 2018 JAMA Network Open meta-analysis found omega-3 reduced anxiety symptoms, but the effect was significant only at doses at or above 2 g/day and in populations with diagnosed clinical conditions. Subgroup effects dominate the literature: healthy or mildly anxious adults show little benefit. The EPA-to-DHA ratio appears to matter, with EPA-predominant formulations performing better. Overall: a plausible adjunct at high dose, not a primary treatment.
