- Evidence is insufficient. The idea comes from a real observation: 3 g glycine before bed causes peripheral vasodilation and lowers core body temperature by a few tenths of a degree, which is how it aids sleep onset. Extending that to heat tolerance during exercise or heat exposure is speculation - no trial has tested glycine for thermoregulation during heat stress, exercise capacity in the heat, or heat acclimatisation. The nocturnal temperature drop is small, occurs at rest, and vasodilation during heat stress is already maximal, so there is little reason to expect an additive effect. Heat acclimatisation through repeated exposure, hydration and cooling strategies are what work.
