    Dream quality is an unusual outcome to attach to glycine, and the honest summary is that this is one of the weakest claims on the site.
    The reasoning is indirect. Glycine improves sleep onset and early slow-wave sleep in small studies, and better-consolidated sleep tends to mean more intact REM later in the night, which is when the most vivid and memorable dreaming happens. Anecdotally some users report more vivid dreams. No controlled study has measured dream vividness, recall or emotional tone with glycine. Treat any dream effect as a plausible knock-on of better sleep rather than a demonstrated property of the compound.

    How It Works

    Glycine lowers core body temperature via NMDA receptor activity in the suprachiasmatic nucleus, which promotes peripheral heat loss and supports sleep onset. It also acts as an inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brainstem, where glycinergic signalling contributes to the muscle atonia characteristic of REM sleep.
    That brainstem role is the most direct link to dreaming, since REM atonia is glycine and GABA mediated. But there is a difference between glycine being part of normal REM machinery and supplemental glycine changing the character of dreams. The more likely route is structural: falling asleep faster and consolidating slow-wave sleep early leaves more undisturbed REM in the second half of the night, and waking naturally out of a REM period is the single biggest determinant of whether you remember a dream at all.
