BDNF increases after creatine supplementation in rodent models; human trials measuring serum or plasma BDNF after creatine are very few, small, and inconsistent.,Serum BDNF is also a poor proxy — it is heavily influenced by platelet content, time of day, exercise and assay method, so a reported change is hard to interpret.,The intervention that reliably raises BDNF in humans is aerobic exercise.     What the studies say

    Human 31P-MRS studies confirm creatine supplementation raises brain phosphocreatine by around 5-10 percent. Randomised trials show cognitive benefits mainly under conditions of metabolic stress such as sleep deprivation, hypoxia, and in vegetarians with low baseline stores. Effects in well-rested omnivores are small. No human trial has shown creatine changes BDNF levels; the link is mechanistically plausible but unproven.
