    What the studies say

    The human literature consists of small randomized trials, generally under 100 participants and 8-12 weeks long. Studies in postmenopausal women report reductions in symptom inventory scores versus placebo, with one trial also noting improved vaginal cytology, but effect sizes are modest and blinding quality varies. Trials in type 2 diabetes report small improvements in fasting glucose, insulin, and lipid fractions, though results are inconsistent between cohorts. No study has measured hormone concentrations as a primary outcome with adequate power, so claims about balancing hormones outrun the data considerably. Formulations differ enormously in 10-HDA content and freshness, and none of the positive trials has been independently replicated at scale.

    Royal jelly has caused anaphylaxis and severe asthma exacerbations. Anyone with bee allergy, atopy, or asthma should avoid it entirely, and people with hormone-sensitive cancers should not use it.
