    Evidence is insufficient for this specific domain. Randomised trials measuring verbal fluency - the standard category and letter naming tasks - have generally found no significant improvement with omega-3 supplementation in cognitively healthy adults or older adults. The larger cognitive trials, including the AREDS2 cognitive substudy and dedicated trials in healthy older populations, were null across domains. Where positive findings appear, they tend to be in composite cognitive scores, in subgroups with low baseline omega-3 status, or in people with mild cognitive impairment rather than in verbal fluency specifically. Observational links between fish intake and slower cognitive decline are confounded by overall diet and lifestyle.
