L-Theanine for Hypervigilance
L-theanine has modest evidence for reducing subjective anxiety and physiological stress responses, and may take an edge off baseline arousal. It is a reasonable gentle adjunct — but hypervigilance is a conditioned threat response that only trauma-focused therapy meaningfully recalibrates.

While this preliminary study did not support the efficacy of L-theanine in the treatment of anxiety symptoms in GAD, further studies to explore the application of L-theanine in sleep disturbance are warranted.

Caveats
Hypervigilance is a core PTSD feature and warrants trauma-focused therapy; theanine is at best adjunctive. Mild hypotensive effect. Doses above 900 mg/day unstudied; not established in pregnancy.
