This is a genuinely useful finding for endurance athletes and for people who need regular anti-inflammatories. The second reasonable claim is respiratory infection in athletes, where several trials report fewer upper respiratory episodes and fewer days of symptoms, likely mediated by secretory IgA. Beyond that the evidence thins rapidly. IGF-1 in colostrum is present but almost entirely digested, so anabolic claims rest on very little, and trials of colostrum for body composition in trained individuals are unimpressive. Practical constraints matter: effective doses in trials are 20-60 g/day, far above the one or two grams in a typical capsule, so cost becomes real. Colostrum is a dairy product and unsuitable for people with cow's milk protein allergy.
