    What the studies say

    The evidence base is split: dozens of positive Cuban trials versus consistently negative independent replication trials from Germany, South Africa, and North America. The negative trials are methodologically stronger (better blinding, validated assays, independent funding). Current consensus is that policosanol does not meaningfully lower LDL.
