    Systematic review and meta-analysis of 40 studies on beta-alanine and exercise capacity.

    Beta-alanine had a small but significant overall effect on exercise outcomes; the benefit was greatest for exercise lasting 30 seconds to 10 minutes and absent for tasks under 30 seconds.

    Conclusions

    Ergogenic effects are real but modest and duration-dependent.

    Substantial heterogeneity; many small trials; some outcomes null.
