Abstract
Systematic review of randomized trials evaluating oral nutraceuticals for acne.
Methodology
Systematic review of 42 randomized clinical trials involving 3346 participants.
Key Findings
Potential benefits were reported for vitamins B5 and D, green tea extract, probiotics, and omega-3s, but most trials were small and heterogeneous.
Conclusions
Oral nutraceuticals may have an adjunctive role in acne, but larger rigorous trials are needed.
Limitations
Small studies, heterogeneous interventions and outcomes, and risk-of-bias concerns; most evidence was not specific to hormonal acne.
