    Methodology

    Double-blind randomized placebo-controlled trial of 30 g/day milled flaxseed for 6 months in patients with peripheral artery disease.

    Key Findings

    Flaxseed lowered systolic blood pressure by about 10 mmHg and diastolic by about 7 mmHg versus placebo, with largest effects in those hypertensive at baseline.

    Conclusions

    Milled flaxseed produced a clinically meaningful antihypertensive effect over 6 months.

    Single-centre, specific PAD population, whole milled seed rather than oil, self-reported adherence.
