Meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials of beta-alanine supplementation on exercise performance measures.

Beta-alanine produced a significant median improvement in exercise capacity of about 2.85% versus placebo, with effects clearest for exercise lasting 60-240 seconds.
Conclusions
Beta-alanine benefits high-intensity exercise in the 1-4 minute range; effects on short (<60 s) efforts are not significant.
