    A cohort study with accompanying literature review found micronutrient deficiencies were common in systemic sclerosis - most frequently vitamin D, selenium, zinc, vitamin B9/B12 and iron - and clustered with malnutrition, gastrointestinal involvement and worse disease severity scores.

    Conclusions

    Se testing should be considered as soon as cardiac involvement is suspected. VitC testing should be considered in malnourished SSc patients, especially if skin involvement is extensive.

    Observational cohort with modest and incompletely reported sample; single-centre referral population prone to severity bias; deficiency thresholds varied across the reviewed literature; no interventional data showing that repletion changes disease outcomes.
