Everything else attached to the herb is traditional inference. It is widely sold as a plant iron source, but the iron content of the root is unremarkable and it is rich in oxalic acid, which chelates non-heme iron and reduces absorption rather than aiding it, while also raising kidney stone risk in susceptible people. The "blood purifier" and lymphatic-cleansing framing comes from nineteenth-century alterative herbalism and has no measurable modern correlate. Leaf ingestion in quantity has caused fatal oxalate poisoning, so the distinction between root and leaf matters.
