    The evidence here is insufficient. Trials have given 100-300 mg/day for 2-8 weeks to trained and untrained participants and measured VO2 max directly; results are inconsistent and the better-controlled studies show no meaningful improvement over placebo.,Where CoQ10 does register an effect in exercise research, it is on oxidative stress and muscle damage markers, not on maximal aerobic capacity.,VO2 max responds reliably to structured aerobic training, particularly interval work, and to correcting iron deficiency anaemia — do those first.,If you trial CoQ10 anyway, 200-300 mg/day loaded for at least 14 days is the studied regimen, taken with fat. Expect no VO2 change.,Avoid megadosing antioxidants during a training build; very high intakes may blunt adaptation signalling.

    What the studies say

    Trials in healthy athletes show no VO2 max benefit. Some benefit appears in heart failure and statin-associated myopathy populations.

    No studies are yet linked to both CoQ10 and VO2 Max Improvement.

    Safety

    Caveats

    Unexplained exertional breathlessness or a falling VO2 needs medical assessment (anaemia, asthma, cardiac disease), not a supplement. Warfarin interaction; additive blood-pressure lowering. Drug-tested athletes should use batch-certified products. Insufficient pregnancy data.

    Less likely to help if

    Trained endurance athletes with normal CoQ10 status, and essentially anyone using it as a substitute for aerobic training.
