Bromelain for Post-Workout Recovery
Bromelain has solid evidence for reducing swelling and bruising after surgical trauma, and that has been extrapolated to exercise recovery on thinner grounds. Trials in delayed-onset muscle soreness are small and inconsistent, though the mechanism transfers plausibly to genuine soft-tissue injury.

Pooled trials showed bromelain reduced postoperative swelling and trismus after third molar surgery, with smaller and less consistent effects on pain.
Safety
Caveats
Must be taken away from food or it acts only as a digestive enzyme. Fibrinolytic activity means it should be stopped two weeks before elective surgery unless a surgeon directs otherwise, and avoided with anticoagulants. The DOMS evidence specifically is weak.
