Methodology
Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial; 460 mg/day Arctium lappa root powder vs placebo for 12 weeks in women with PCOS; oxidative stress and inflammatory markers, ovary volume, hirsutism score and menstrual frequency measured pre/post.
Key Findings
Superoxide dismutase and catalase increased significantly (p<0.001) while malondialdehyde and C-reactive protein decreased in the burdock group compared with placebo.
Conclusions
Burdock root powder improved antioxidant and inflammatory markers in women with PCOS over 12 weeks.
