Abstract
Tracer study of pre-sleep protein incorporation into myofibrillar protein during overnight recovery.
Key Findings
Labelled amino acids from pre-sleep casein were directly incorporated into myofibrillar protein overnight, but additional exercise did not further raise overnight synthesis rates beyond protein alone.
Conclusions
Pre-sleep casein supports overnight muscle protein accretion via direct amino acid incorporation.
Limitations
Mechanistic tracer study in young men; short measurement window.
Supplements Studied

Outcomes Measured
