    Abstract

Randomized trial of pre-sleep casein protein during 12 weeks of resistance training.

    Key Findings

Pre-sleep casein supplementation during 12 weeks of resistance training produced greater gains in muscle cross-sectional area and one-repetition-maximum strength than the non-protein control.

    Conclusions

Casein before sleep augments training adaptations in young men.

    Limitations

Non-isocaloric control, young male participants only, single training program.

    Supplements Studied

Pre-sleep casein supplementation during 12 weeks of resistance training produced greater gains in muscle cross-sectional area and one-repetition-maximum strength than the non-protein control.
