Blinded randomized trial of a synbiotic added to antihistamine therapy for chronic spontaneous urticaria.
Methodology
Patients received synbiotic plus antihistamine or antihistamine alone for eight weeks.
Key Findings
Both groups improved; the between-group UAS7 difference was not statistically significant despite a larger numerical reduction with synbiotic.
Conclusions
Probiotic adjunct therapy remains preliminary and did not show statistically superior efficacy on the primary activity score.
Limitations
Small sample, short duration, single center, and no matched placebo for the adjunct.
Supplements Studied
