Key Findings
Among 2423 adults with prediabetes, vitamin D3 4000 IU daily did not significantly lower the risk of progression to type 2 diabetes versus placebo (hazard ratio 0.88, 95% CI 0.75-1.04).
Conclusions
Vitamin D supplementation in people not selected for deficiency does not meaningfully reduce diabetes incidence.
