Published in Journal of Hypertension
Abstract
Meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials of Nigella sativa supplementation on blood pressure.
Key Findings
Short-term Nigella sativa supplementation reduced systolic blood pressure by about 3.3 mmHg and diastolic by about 2.8 mmHg versus control.
Conclusions
Effect sizes are small and derived from short trials, so clinical relevance is uncertain.
Limitations
Short follow-up, small samples, publication bias possible.
Supplements Studied
Short-term Nigella sativa supplementation reduced systolic blood pressure by about 3.3 mmHg and diastolic by about 2.8 mmHg versus control.
