    Key Findings

    Tyrosine reliably improves cognitive performance in short-term demanding or stressful situations such as cold, noise and sleep loss, but does not enhance cognition at rest.

    Outcomes Measured

    Tyrosine enhances cognitive performance in demanding or stressful situations but not at rest.

    Tyrosine improved cognitive performance and effort-based responding under demanding conditions but had no effect in unstressed, rested participants

    TYR does seem to effectively enhance cognitive performance, particularly in short-term stressful and/or cognitively demanding situations. We conclude that TYR is an effective enhancer of cognition, but only when neurotransmitter function is intact and DA and/or NE is temporarily depleted.
