Systematic review and meta-analysis of calcium intake and bone mineral density.
Key Findings
Increasing calcium intake from diet or supplements produced small one-off increases in bone mineral density of about 1-2% that did not accumulate over time.
Conclusions
Such small density gains are unlikely to produce a clinically meaningful reduction in fractures.
