Methodology
Double-blind randomized trial of creatine monohydrate (5.7 g) versus glucose placebo with a 2-week loading phase followed by maintenance dosing during outpatient pulmonary rehabilitation in COPD
Key Findings
No difference in whole body exercise performance between groups; incremental shuttle walk distance differed by -23.1 m (95% CI -71.7 to 25.5) after loading.
Conclusions
Creatine did not improve whole-body exercise performance in COPD patients undergoing pulmonary rehabilitation.
Limitations
Small sample with substantial attrition (25 of 38 completed rehabilitation phase).
