    Narrative review of mechanistic, epidemiological and clinical literature on magnesium status and cardiovascular outcomes.

    Key Findings

    Review evidence links subclinical magnesium deficiency to hypertension, arrhythmias, arterial calcification, endothelial dysfunction and increased cardiovascular mortality, and argues that serum magnesium is an insensitive marker that hides widespread inadequacy.

    Conclusions

    The authors position chronic low magnesium intake as an under-recognised contributor to cardiovascular disease and call for better assessment and higher dietary intake.

    Limitations

    Narrative review with selective citation and a strong prior position; observational associations dominate, and interventional evidence for hard cardiovascular endpoints remains limited.
