    Methodology

    Narrative/critical review of human evidence on SDA-rich oils as precursors of long-chain n-3 PUFA

    Key Findings

    Conversion to EPA is more efficient from SDA than from ALA, and increased SDA intake raises red blood cell EPA, though less than direct EPA supplementation. No trials yet test whether this translates into health outcomes.

    SDA-rich oils are a credible plant-based way to raise EPA status, but clinical benefit remains unproven.
