Secondary analysis of a 12-week randomized controlled dietary intervention in 79 subjects with impaired fasting glucose (camelina oil n=18, fatty fish n=20, lean fish n=21, control n=20); plasma lipid mediators profiled by LC-MS/MS.
Key Findings
ALA-derived lipid mediators increased and the arachidonic-acid-derived 5-iso prostaglandin F2a-VI decreased in the camelina oil group, while fatty fish raised EPA/DHA-derived mediators.

Camelina oil shifts the circulating lipid-mediator profile toward ALA-derived species, a plausible anti-inflammatory mechanism.
