    Systematic review and random-effects meta-analysis of randomised placebo-controlled trials of riboflavin (vitamin B2) for migraine prophylaxis, with subgroup analysis by age.

    Key Findings

    Pooled analysis of randomised trials (673 participants) found riboflavin 400 mg/day did not significantly outperform placebo on migraine frequency in the pooled random-effects estimate, though several individual trials in adults reported meaningful reductions in monthly migraine days; results in children and adolescents were consistently null.

    Conclusions

    Riboflavin 400 mg/day for three months reduced migraine days, duration, frequency and pain.

    Limitations

    Small number of eligible trials with substantial heterogeneity in dose, age group and outcome definition; several trials underpowered; adult and paediatric populations differ in response; risk of publication bias with few small positive trials.
