    Effects of NAD+ precursor supplementation on glucose and lipid metabolism in humans: a meta-analysis

    Methodology

    Meta-analysis of 40 clinical studies of NAD+ precursors (nicotinamide riboside, nicotinamide mononucleotide, nicotinic acid, nicotinamide) evaluating triglycerides, total cholesterol, LDL, HDL and fasting glucose.

    Key Findings

    Effects on lipid and glucose parameters were driven largely by nicotinic acid; newer precursors (NR, NMN) contributed limited metabolic change.

    Conclusions

    NAD+ precursor supplementation influences lipid metabolism, but effects differ substantially by precursor type.

    Limitations

    Pooling of chemically distinct precursors, heterogeneous populations and dose ranges, dominance of older nicotinic acid trials.
