    Methodology

    Randomised double-blind placebo-controlled trial of 24 mg/day macular carotenoids (lutein, zeaxanthin, meso-zeaxanthin) for 6 months in young adults with high screen exposure.

    Key Findings

    Macular pigment optical density, contrast sensitivity and photostress recovery improved, and headache frequency, eye strain and sleep quality scores were better than placebo.

    Conclusions

    Macular carotenoid supplementation improved visual performance and screen-related symptoms in healthy young adults.
