Combined in vitro enzymatic characterisation plus two randomized, placebo- and lactase-controlled crossover clinical trials in lactose-intolerant adults given a lactose challenge, with symptom scores and hydrogen breath testing.

Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis Bi-07 showed high lactase (beta-galactosidase) activity in vitro and, in randomized placebo- and lactase-controlled crossover trials, reduced lactose intolerance symptoms and breath hydrogen after a lactose challenge.
