    Candida Control

Yeast overgrowth prevention and fungal balance.

    TL;DR

Candida is a normal gut and skin commensal; problems arise only when it overgrows after antibiotics, immune suppression, or uncontrolled diabetes. Saccharomyces boulardii has the best trial support for suppressing Candida colonization; antifungal botanicals are mostly preclinical.

    Why It Matters

Recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis, oral thrush, and antibiotic-associated diarrhea are the clinically meaningful presentations. "Systemic candida" as a cause of fatigue and brain fog is not an established diagnosis, and treating it empirically delays real workups.

    How to Measure

    Biomarkers

    Stool fungal culture
    Vaginal swab microscopy
    HbA1c (overgrowth risk)

    Optimization Protocol

Address the driver first (antibiotic course, glycaemic control, steroid inhaler rinsing). Saccharomyces boulardii 5-10 billion CFU daily during and for two weeks after antibiotics. Reserve antifungal botanicals for short 2-4 week trials under supervision; escalate to prescription antifungals for confirmed infection.
