Mullein for Cough
Mullein is a well-established traditional remedy for coughs, with soothing mucilage and mild expectorant saponins that plausibly explain its effects. It is approved for traditional use in European cough preparations, but no modern randomized trials of mullein alone exist.

- Evidence is insufficient: no controlled trial has tested mullein for cough. Traditional use is 3-4 g of dried flowers or leaf as an infusion up to three times daily, strained through fine cloth, and this has never been shown to reduce cough frequency or duration. Honey and simple demulcents have better trial support in acute cough.
