Overview
D-aspartic acid (DAA) is the dextro isomer of aspartic acid, concentrated in the pituitary and testes where it modulates hormone release, including LH and testosterone synthesis. The initial excitement came from a 2009 study showing a ~40% testosterone rise in infertile/sedentary men at 3 g/day. Subsequent research deflated it: the effect appears transient (gone by 4 weeks), absent or even reversed in resistance-trained men, and absent at higher doses (6 g/day may lower testosterone). For fertility markers there is some early positive data, but as a bodybuilding testosterone booster DAA has failed replication.
