    Elist J

Published in Urology, Vol. 67 (1), pp. 60-3

    Methodology

Double-blind randomised placebo-controlled trial; 60 men aged 20-55 with chronic nonbacterial prostatitis/CPPS, symptomatic for over 6 months without response to earlier therapy, took the pollen extract preparation or placebo for 6 months. Symptoms scored across pain, voiding, storage and sexual items.

    Key Findings

After 6 months more men on the extract than on placebo were rated cured or improved; no adverse reactions were found. The abstract gives no numbers.

    Conclusions

The preparation was superior to placebo for symptom relief.

    Limitations

Small single-author trial; the abstract reports no figures, effect sizes or P values and does not mention the NIH-CPSI.
