Published in Canadian Journal of Physiology and Pharmacology, Vol. 91 (10), pp. 855-60
Methodology
Three-month randomised placebo-controlled trial of glycine 15 g/day in patients with metabolic syndrome
Key Findings
Glycine lowered systolic blood pressure and markers of oxidative stress without significant change in fasting glucose or lipid profile.
Conclusions
Glycine may modestly improve oxidative stress and blood pressure in metabolic syndrome, but glycaemic effects were absent.
Limitations
Modest sample size; single centre; short duration.
Supplements Studied
Glycine supplementation reduced systolic blood pressure and oxidative stress markers in patients with metabolic syndrome.
