Methodology
Randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in 20 physically active women who took 30 mL Montmorency concentrate or placebo twice a day for 8 days, with a repeated-sprint protocol after day 4.
Key Findings
Countermovement jump height recovered better with tart cherry (p = 0.016); soreness (p = 0.070) and pain pressure threshold (p = 0.071) only trended lower.
Conclusions
Montmorency cherry may help attenuate muscle damage symptoms and improve recovery in women.
Limitations
Small sample of young women; soreness difference was not significant.
