Schütz D, Lettorp KH, Olofsson IA, Hoffmann ER
Published in Reprod Biomed Online, Vol. 52 (2), pp. 105261
Methodology
Systematic review and meta-analysis of micronutrients in fertility treatment; three clinical CoQ10 studies (326 women) and two in-vitro oocyte studies.
Key Findings
In poor responders CoQ10 increased oocyte retrieval and live birth (OR 2.28); no effect on miscarriage; very wide estimate in PCOS (OR 13.26).
Conclusions
Women of advanced maternal age and women with poor response or PCOS gained greater benefit from CoQ10.
Limitations
Only three clinical studies; very small numbers; mixes clinical and laboratory studies.
Supplements Studied
CoQ10 had no effect on the miscarriage rate
