Published in Ann Allergy Asthma Immunol, Vol. 76 (5), pp. 416-8

    Methodology

Case report of one patient with three systemic allergic reactions after eating oregano and thyme, with skin prick and specific IgE testing against Labiatae (mint family) plants and ten control patients.

    Key Findings

Skin tests and specific IgE were positive to several Labiatae herbs, including oregano and thyme; controls were negative.

    Conclusions

Plants of the Labiatae family seem to show cross-sensitivity.

    Limitations

Single patient; documents that the allergy exists and cross-reacts, not how common it is.

    Supplements Studied
