    Effects of fish oil supplement on psoriasis: a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials

    Methodology

    Systematic search of CENTRAL, Embase and MEDLINE for RCTs of fish oil in psoriasis; 13 RCTs (625 participants) included, 3 RCTs (337 participants) pooled in a random-effects meta-analysis with Cochrane risk-of-bias assessment.

    Key Findings

    Fish oil supplementation did not significantly reduce psoriasis severity by PASI (mean difference -0.28; 95% CI -1.74 to 1.19).

    Conclusions

    Current evidence does not support the use of fish oil supplements for treating psoriasis.

    Limitations

    Only 3 of 13 trials provided poolable data; heterogeneous doses, formulations and background therapy; small total pooled sample.
